Victoria (2 August, 2020) is now in a State of Disaster, and has moved to Stage 4 Restrictions, which will stay in place until 13 September, 2020.

In Metropolitan Melbourne, there will still be only four reasons to leave your house:

  1. Shopping for food and supplies
  2. Outdoor exercise
  3. Medical care and care giving
  4. Study or work

– if you can’t do these things from home.

Face mask rules and penalties still apply.

The difference between Stage 3 and Stage 4 restrictions is:

There will now be a curfew on leaving your house between 8.00pm and 5.00am, unless you are going to work, giving care to somebody, or for medical reasons.

Exercise is now for a maximum of one hour only, and not more than 5 kilometres from your home. You may exercise with one person OR your dependent children (children in your care).

Only one person living in your house is allowed to go shopping, once a day, and no more than five kilometres away (unless the nearest shopping centre is more than five kilometres away). Supermarkets, pharmacies, butcher and vegetable stores, medical centres will remain open.

The five kilometre restrictions do not apply if you are travelling for work, study, medical care or care giving – or for visiting intimate partners (that is, couples in a committed relationship).

Recreational activities such as fishing, golf and organised sport are now banned.

As from Wednesday, 5 August, 2020, all students attending school will return to remote learning (learning from home).

Childcare will be closed (there are exemptions).

Restaurants and cafes will provide takeaway and delivery services only. Bottle shops (alcohol) will remain open.

Weddings will be banned (exemptions for compassionate reasons).

If you are feeling unwell, stay home and arrange to get tested for COVID-19

If you test positive, you must isolate yourself from those not infected your house. Call the DHHS Coronavirus Hotline for advice or instructions. 1800 675 398. Ask for an interpreter. Stay safe.
