Garment and Pattern Alterations is an advanced level sewing course which assumes working skills in using lockstitch and overlocker sewing machines. An understanding of garment construction and tracing / cutting out patterns is required.

Functional English is required.

Course Information:

Garment and Pattern Alterations could be considered following successful completion of the advanced “All Sewn Up” course. By the end of the course:
  • Learners will have an understanding of how to work with different fabrics
  • Learners will be able to make adjustments to existing garments e.g. zips, hems, buttons, seams
  • Learners will be able to recycle existing garments to make new items
  • Learns will have some idea how to alter existing patterns to cater for different body types
  • Learners will develop oracy skills to talk about the textile industry and familiarity with fabrics and processes currently in the textile industry
  • Learners will continue to further their skills in using sewing machines and overlockers

The class is 3 hours a week for 10 weeks. 

Classes are normally scheduled according to school terms and thus there are generally four intakes per year. If you don't see any classes listed below please click on the enquire button and we will contact you to discuss your enrolment options.

All classes are delivered at venues throughout Wyndham. Note: if a class is listed as online you will need to ensure you have access to a reliable desktop computer/laptop and wifi/internet. The fees listed below constitute a services and amenities fee which is non-refundable. When enrolling through the online system payment must be made with a credit/debit card.

There is an additional $10 resource fee in addition to the fees listed below.

We recommend the use of a computer/laptop/tablet and not a smart phone when enrolling.
