Craftermania is designed for learners who experience stress, anxiety, depression, isolation or disengagement, and who wish to expand their coping mechanisms or tools through the utilisation of crafts. This 10 hour course provides a supported environment for you to bring your own project to complete, such as knitting, crochet, sewing, embroidery, tapestry, or cross stitch, and provides resources to increase health literacy. The coping mechanisms, behavioural change suggestions and exchange of lived experience have shown a reduction in work related stress and will increase the employment opportunities as well as retention of current employment.
Course Information:
Craftermania will cover:
- Taking inventory / self-assessment of own mental health status
- Key language of health and health related conditions
- Finding general resources for crafts and mental health activities online and in the local community
- Following instructions to access tutorials, motivational tools, physical tools and materials required for a project
- Coping strategies
- Researching and reading patterns to complete craft project
- Learning about pattern libraries, courses, social media, local support groups, craft stores or classes – things than can help support mental wellbeing
The class is 2 hours a week for 5 weeks.
Classes are normally scheduled according to school terms and thus there are generally four intakes per year. If you don't see any classes listed below please click on the enquire button and we will contact you to discuss your enrolment options.
All classes are delivered at venues throughout Wyndham. Note: if a class is listed as online you will need to ensure you have access to a reliable desktop computer/laptop and wifi/internet. The fees listed below constitute a services and amenities fee which is non-refundable. When enrolling through the online system payment must be made with a credit/debit card.
We recommend the use of a computer/laptop/tablet and not a smart phone when enrolling.
