A hands-on, beginner-friendly coffee-making course designed for learners who want to build confidence and practical skills in a café environment. Learn how to operate commercial coffee machines, prepare a range of hot beverages, froth and texture milk, and present drinks professionally. The course also introduces basic hygiene, workplace safety, and customer service skills, helping learners prepare for café work or further barista training.
Course Information:
Basic Barista will cover:
- Identifying and operating key parts of espresso machines and grinders
- Frothing and texturing milk for cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites, and more
- Preparing a variety of hot drinks, including coffee and hot chocolate
- Basic OHS and food-handling procedures relevant to hospitality
- Cleaning, maintaining, and packing down coffee equipment
- Understanding ingredient quantities, cup sizes, and beverage temperatures
- Basic presentation skills and simple coffee art
- Customer service skills and preparation for café employment
The class is 3 hours a week for 3 weeks.
Classes are normally scheduled according to school terms and thus there are generally four intakes per year. If you don't see any classes listed below please click on the enquire button and we will contact you to discuss your enrolment options.
All classes are delivered at venues throughout Wyndham. Note: if a class is listed as online you will need to ensure you have access to a reliable desktop computer/laptop and wifi/internet. The fees listed below constitute a services and amenities fee which is non-refundable. When enrolling through the online system payment must be made with a credit/debit card.
There is an additional $15 resource fee in addition to the amount listed below.
