Introduction to Care & Support is designed for people who are interested in beginning a career in the care and support industry. This industry includes aged care, disability support and community care services that help people live safely, independently and with dignity. Workers in this sector assist with daily tasks, personal care, social participation, and overall wellbeing.

This pre-employment course introduces the sector, builds confidence with workplace language and literacy, and helps learners explore real job pathways.

Course Information:

Introduction to Care & Support will cover:
  • An overview of aged care, disability support and community care, including common roles and daily tasks
  • Job expectations, workplace behaviours and the skills and attributes employers look for
  • Legislative, ethical and safe work practices to protect both workers and clients
  • Person-centred care, social inclusion, dignity, respect and empowerment
  • Understanding different types of disability and support needs
  • Communication skills, teamwork and strategies for working effectively with others
  • Practical insights from videos, case studies and guest speakers (where possible)
  • Pathways to entry-level support work and further study, including Certificate III in Individual Support
The class is 3 hours a week for 9/10 weeks.

Classes are normally scheduled according to school terms and thus there are generally four intakes per year. If you don't see any classes listed below please click on the enquire button and we will contact you to discuss your enrolment options.

All classes are delivered at venues throughout Wyndham. Note: if a class is listed as online you will need to ensure you have access to a reliable desktop computer/laptop and wifi/internet. The fees listed below constitute a services and amenities fee which is non-refundable. When enrolling through the online system payment must be made with a credit/debit card.

We recommend the use of a computer/laptop/tablet when enrolling. Do not use a smart phone.
