TGA approves COVID-19 vaccine booster doses

On 27 October 2021 the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) provisionally approved a booster dose of the Comirnaty (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 18 years and older.

Booster doses will be free for everyone in Australia aged 18 years and over. This includes people without a Medicare card, overseas visitors, international students, migrant workers and asylum seekers. 

Further advice on the use of boosters will be provided to government shortly by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI).

To the COVID-19 vaccine rollout

The Australian Technical Advisory Group (ATAGI) announced a 3rd primary dose of COVID-19 vaccine for individuals who are severely immunocompromised on 7 October 2021. 

Everyone in Australia aged 12 years and over are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. People aged 60 years and over are now able to receive the mRNA vaccines, vaccines Comirnaty (Pfizer) and Spikevax(Moderna).
