On 30 July 2018, the Victorian Government announced the establishment of Community Support Groups (CSGs) in Wyndham, Melton (with reach into Brimbank) and Dandenong (with reach into Casey) to strengthen South Sudanese communities through building engagement, resilience and ensuring young people and their families can be linked to appropriate services.
The CSGs’ focus is to connect young people and their families to existing and new activities to improve their health and wellbeing, education, training and employment outcomes, as well as community participation.
Wyndham Community and Education Centre is the auspice agency in Wyndham.
In partnership with the Victorian government, Wyndham CEC will host an information forum inviting South Sudanese community members to come together to hear more about the CSGs, the auspice, the role of Local Reference Groups and the EOI process. The forum will be held at:
LOCATION: Wayaperri House, 106 Duncans Rd, Werribee
DATE: Monday 10 September
Light refreshments will be provided NO RSVP required
Each CSG will have a Local Reference Group (LRG) to guide each location’s operations, which will be established by the auspice organisation. The LRG will be comprised of community members (including young people), as well as local and state government representatives.
South Sudanese community members are now invited to submit an EoI. The closing date for EoIs is 5pm, 23 September.
